Naturing-Earthing-Connecting

The Donington Farm “Crocodile Rock pose” or known in Yoga as Makarasana - The Crocodile pose! Destressing, Earthing and Connecting.

When was the last time you experienced skin to skin contact with the Earth?

The synthetic shoes and materials we wear today insulate us from the healthy electrical charge of the Earth, which is like a huge battery we can plug into and get recharged.

Just think about it, the animals and plant life have Earth contact 24/7, where as the modern lifestyle us humans have created with our houses, cars, clothing, jobs and social life are keeping us cut off from one of the greatest sources of restorative health, our natural habitat, the living Earth.

It is like holding on to the electric fence gate handles which stop us from getting zapped because the plastic is an insulator.

The only trouble is we need to get the good zaps from the Earth for rebalancing our own electrical system and for so many health and wellbeing benefits.

When we have skin to skin contact there is a safe natural neutralising effect from the negative charged free electrons on the surface of the Earth.

Forest areas, beaches, healthy streams, rock formations, and any nature created zones are highly charged with these electrons and higher vibrational frequencies that have a soothing, calming effect on our nervous system.

Have you ever noticed how energised you feel after walking barefoot along the beach shore as opposed to the same time walking in shoes along a concrete path or in shopping centres?

Even our beautiful horses are giving us a great gift when they allow us to be on their backs, especially bareback or with some skin to skin contact. They are a conduit of the Earth energy to us, especially for the magnetising of our pelvis.

I feel we owe it to our horses to be in a grounded state for a stable mind but also physically attuned to our natural environment, where our vibrational frequency is more horse or nature like.

We are constantly bombarded with passive stress from electromagnetic frequencies such as wifi, TV, computers, overhead powerlines and many more technology based devices. Along with pollutants, toxins, and chemicals, we are creating an excess of positive ions and free radicals that can exacerbate inflammation related disorders, pain and deteriorating health and wellbeing. The Earth contact neutralises and restores a healthy electrical field in our body.

I believe that our horses can sense the disconnect and stress in our bodies which doesn’t feel good or safe to them. If we are not connected to our own bodies and environment and the land on which we live, how do we think a connection and relationship with our horse is going to be mutual?

An Equine Assisted Personal growth experience for a client demonstrated the feedback that the horses give us when they feel drawn to our aligned energy.

Sally (not her real name) was sharing some of her concerns when Banjo came and nudged her. This actually made Sally stop and realise she needed to just slow down and become present and that the story was in the past and being here in the now mattered.

Then after some time lying skin to skin on one of the ancient rocks, in what is known as the crocodile pose, Sally sat up saying she felt so energised and yet calm.

Banjo made his way over again, curiously sniffing her hand and foot and then silently standing next to her.

It was quite special to watch this gentle connection and place of presence between Sally and Banjo. For Sally it was a lived experience of creating an Earthing, grounded and settled space to relate to another.

We are an electrical source of energy and like the fundamental health benefits from sunshine, water, food, air and sleep we need to remember the life force from the Earth is available to us when we throw our shoes off “rewild” and reconnect with our living nourishing Mother Earth.

“The more nature, the better you feel” ~ Florence Williams

Thinking about Pegasus carrying us high up into our fullest potential, we may first need to ground our bare feet on the Earth to experience the fullness and aliveness of connecting to our potential as healthy, grounded and balanced beings.

“A ditch somewhere - or a creek, Meadow, Woodlot, or Marsh….. These are places of initiation, where the borders between ourselves and other creatures break down, where the Earth gets under our nails and a sense of place gets under our skin……Everybody has a ditch, or ought to. For only the ditches - and the fields, the woods, the ravines can teach us to care enough for all the land.”
~ Robert Michael Pyle, The Thunder Tree. (Respectfully shared from Micah Mortali’s book Rewilding)
