About Pegasus Inner Wellbeing

At Pegasus Inner Wellbeing we provide a diverse range of experiences that prioritise the client’s wholeness, self-empowerment and unique expression.

We provide a nurturing, safe environment for clients to become self aware, develop strengths, new skills and explore possibilities.

This can be via connections with horses and nature, through trauma informed restorative yoga and meditation, or a combination of both.

We offer an innovative way of experiential learning known as Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). No prior horse experience is necessary.

As a certified EAL practitioner with the Equine Psychotherapy Institute (EPI), Margot along with the horses as partners, will facilitate the equine sessions. This model is based on the core principles and theory of Gestalt Therapy.

The horses offer a powerful presence with their natural intelligence, sensitivity and beauty. They can model and teach us about health wellbeing, relationships and life skills.

As relational beings, healthy horses thrive with connection, safety and trust. They can teach us about these aspects too.

Horses can model to us how feelings are important information to be acknowledged and expressed. They demonstrate how congruency, communication and boundaries are vital in how we relate and express ourselves.

Upholding the EPI model, we value the horses right for choice, voice, consent, autonomy and expression. The EPI principles and certification process have provided an ethical framework for best practices.

As stewards for our herd, the welfare, health and wellbeing of each horse is of utmost importance. We respect each horse as an individual and understand their nature. We only include horses that are relaxed, safe and willing, with the aim of mutual benefits for both horse and client.

About Donington Farm

As you approach the entrance to Donington Farm you will be welcomed by the ancient Grandmother tree and Gatekeeper rock.

The herd live together and have an enriched, natural environment. They explore, play, forage and engage with their human herd every day.

We have created areas amongst the trees and rocks to safely engage or observe the horses and have a covered area for weather protection, an arena and yards.

As stewards of the land, we engage in regenerative and biodynamic practices to sustain and improve the environment and minimise our impact.

We acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional custodians, the First Nations people, past, present and emerging for caring for country. We wish to honour their contribution by also caring for country and practicing Dadiiri (deep listening, inner quiet and still awareness) and to live in peace for the benefit of all beings. .

Experiences (a little background)

Horses have always held a strong presence in my life and in my heart. Even though I grew up in the suburbs, I was horse crazy, imagining I was a horse and later my bicycle became my horse.

In early adulthood, horses became real in my life and have been with me ever since. My children didn’t have to imagine horses like I did, but grew up with them as their companions and teachers.

Psychiatric nurse training developed my interest in mind health and a daily practice of yoga, meditation and an Ayurvedic lifestyle has been my joy and foundation for health and well-being.

I have been teaching yoga and meditation for 15 years and believe in living what I teach and teach what I am living. (2 Diplomas with Dru Australasia, registered Level 2 Yoga Australia and Trauma Sensitive Yoga Australia)

Developing my knowledge and wisdom has helped not only myself but also my clients to live a meaningful and valued life.

I am currently studying a Diploma of Counselling with AIPC. This will compliment the Equine assisted sessions at Donington Farm and the 1:1 health and well-being coaching I provide to clients online and at the farm.

The combination of yoga, the natural world and horses have helped me through the darkest days of grief as a bereaved parent.

After many years of grieving, self healing and personal growth I live a life I love and want to facilitate clients to discover their own values and strengths to live an enriched life.

I offer an online personal coaching service via zoom. My programs are individualised to support women transform the pain of grief and loss into wisdom, through self care and living better, not bitter.

My husband Steve has been instrumental in helping me to manifest a vision I have held in my heart for many years - to provide a safe space and share the blessings of nature, horses and wisdom practices as agents of positive change and growth for all who visit.

More about Equine Assisted Learning

Participating in EAL sessions can:

  • Develop skills to calm the Nervous System and create more heart/ brain coherence.

  • Provide opportunities for learning about safe touch, choice, voice and consent for both horse and human.

  • Provide experiences of rhythmical movement, sensations and somatic awareness, which enhances whole brain integration, embodiment and the development of new neural pathways.

  • Explore emotional regulating skills to reduce stress, anxiety and fears.

  • Discover what feelings, thoughts and beliefs arise when in relationship with the horses.

  • Build self-awareness of habits or patterns that are no longer supporting health and wellbeing.

  • Develop empathy and relationship skills and explore new ideas.

What does this look like?

Upon arrival at Donington Farm, we collaborate to make a plan together that includes your learning goals. We then explore safety guidelines and some practices that ground and calm you before meeting the horses in a way that feels safe and appropriate to you.

The Equine experiences can range from observing the horses, safely interacting with the herd at liberty or connecting with a particular horse to explore relationship.

Interactions may include grooming, leading, creative activities, meditating and sometimes led mounted sessions for therapeutic benefits or addressing learning goals.

The flow of the session is oriented towards what the horses offer in terms of feedback, connection and the identified learning goals.

This unique way of being in relationship with the horse, supported by the facilitator, can create insights and benefits of awareness, regulating and resourcing for everyday life and improving relational skills.
